Swedish Massage

Swedish therapeutic massage is a very popular type of massage.  In this type of massage, the therapist uses various styles of long, flowing strokes. The five basic strokes are effleurage (light touch), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (compression), and vibration.  Swedish massage is helpful in reducing pain and stress, improving the overall function of muscles and joints, and aiding in the healthy function of most bodily systems, including the digestive system, the cardio-respiratory system, the immune system, and more.

Normalization of Soft Tissue/Myofascial Release

To increase neuromuscular function, we use myofascial release, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques (METs), and deep tissue massage to treat specific injuries and dysfunctions of muscles and joints.  Myofascial release involves releasing the bonds between the fascia, skin, and muscles.  Trigger point (or pressure point) therapy involves reducing points that may refer pain sensations to other parts of the body.  METs use resistive muscle stretches to reset old muscle patterns.  These techniques, used together with others, aim to eliminate pain and to increase range of motion and function in muscles and joints.  This type of massage is ideal for athletes of all types and disciplines, as well as for clients with chronic pain or injuries.

Prenatal and Postpartum Massage

This is a wonderfully relaxing and beneficial massage for the new mother or mother-to-be.  Special attention is paid to the lower back, hips, and legs, and of course anywhere else that the mother needs it.  This type of massage is offered on a table for women in all stages of pregnancy or post-pregnancy, with special bolstering and positioning to provide maximum comfort for these special clients.  Please note that, due to the extra time required for bolstering, clients need to schedule sessions of 90 minutes or longer.

Visceral Massage/Abdominal Massage

Visceral massage aids in healthy digestion, relieves pain, helps regulate healthy bowel movements, and assists in the detoxification process. Just like our muscles, our organs can became hardened, form trigger points, and become adhered to each other or to other bodily structures. This inhibits blood flow, causes (and refers) pain and tension, and restricts normal movement. These issues in the organs can affect the diaphragm, ribs, pelvis, and spine, and can even lead to postural distortion if not released. Visceral massage treatment is done slowly and gently.

Reflexology/Zone Therapy

Reflexology is the physical act of applying pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work effects a physical change to the body.  The benefits of reflexology have to do partly with the reduction of stress; because the feet and hands help set the tension level for the whole body, they are an easy way to interrupt the stress signal and reset the body's equilibrium.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage can be beneficial for relaxation, injury rehabilitation, and energetic grounding. Using stones as massage tools on the body adds a comforting weight and depth to the work in addition to heat. And when it comes to relaxation time, hot stones set in certain placement patterns on the body can take you remarkably deep into your body and into the moment. Many people end up leaving a hot stone massage feeling as relaxed as if they'd been on vacation for a whole week!

Aromatherapy involves the use of volatile plant oils, including essential oils, for psychological and physical well-being. We provide the oils, and we create custom blends for each client according to their specific requests and needs. Aromatherapy is designed to specifically and uniquely affect the nervous, respiratory, digestive, and lymphatic systems of clients to awake the psyche and the senses. Aromatherapy can be combined with any other type of massage.

Chakra Balancing

At the center of our body, we have seven energy centers called chakras.  They are like spinning wheels of color and light that receive, process, and transmit energy, and they reside in and intertwine with our physical bodies.  In this life, there are many ways for the chakras to become misaligned or depleted, and when that happens, your life force cannot flow freely.  Our chakra balancing therapy is done off the body (without touch), and is intended to bring balance and increased vibration to your energy centers.  With this healing, your full life force energy works in your favor, and you may find that you have a greater ability to eradicate stress, pain, and illness, and that you can more freely experience your life with joy.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)

"BCST is a healing art that works with the energies that create and maintain health in the human system. While not a manipulative therapy, it has its roots in osteopathy and has evolved to include influences from human development, pre and perinatal psychology, trauma resolution, and recent advances in neuroscience. BCST supports nervous system regulation and allows the resolution of conditions resulting from stress and trauma. Practitioners use an educated, gentle, non-invasive touch  to engage with the expressions of health in the system." From Craniosacraltherapy.org.

Hot Bamboo Massage

Bamboo sticks are heated and applied to the body for a warming deep tissue massage.  Hot Bamboo or "Bamboo-fusion" massage incorporates different lengths and diameters of bamboo sticks and stones. Warmed smooth bamboo, is integrated into a flowing Swedish massage. It easily brings the warming, soothing effect of hot stone into massage.Bamboo holds the heat longer than stones do. The bamboo sticks are wrapped in a heating pad to warm them. The bamboo is easily cleaned and sanitized with antibacterial wipes.

Polarity Therapy

Polarity therapy is an alternative therapy that involves balancing the flow of energy in the body to improve or maintain health. It operates on the theory that positive and negative energy charges in the body's electromagnetic energy field govern the flow of energy.  To find the sources of energy blockages, polarity therapy practitioners scan the body for symptoms like pain, discomfort, muscle spasms, and muscle tension.  Once blockages are identified, the practitioner uses a variety of techniques to clear the paths of energy fields, including spinal realignment, movement exercises and breathing techniques.

Two of our massage therapists, Renee and Erin, will come to a healthy home to provide massage therapy sessions.  Massage is an effective way to reduce stress, and stress compromises the optimal functioning of the immune system.  This service is recommended for people who are healthy but may be a high risk individual, or are in contact with high risk people such as seniors or immune compromised.  Providing in home service requires a $85 travel charge in addition to regular massage rates and a mileage fee if over 10 miles from our office.

Some energy based therapies are just as effective performed remotely as in person.  Just as studies have shown that remote prayer is effective in improving patient outcome, energy based therapies can do the same.  We are offering the following remote therapies:

Somatic, Polarity, Biodynamic Therapies and Intuitive Energy Healing:  Erin Casey offers online and remote healing services to release pain and anxiety, relieve stress, access a balanced nervous system, clear the mind, and find more mobility and ease in the body – all of this contributing to a stronger, more resilient immune system. Methods may include somatic experiencing, polarity two chair, biodynamic and intuitive energy healing, mindfulness and awareness practices, guided meditations, and stretching. She’s a certified Polarity Life Coach from the Colorado School of Energy Studies with John and Anna Chitty, and has supported clients through Zoom (an online video call platform) to find more ease in their bodies, clear their minds, and feel more balanced.

BodyTalk:  We have asked Susan McVicker, a BodyTalk practitioner for 15 years,  to provide remote services for our clients. BodyTalk is a simple and effective holistic therapy that allows your body's energy systems to be re-synchronized so they can operate as nature intended.  BodyTalk has a track record of helping the immune system respond to pathogens and boosting immune function.  More information about BodyTalk can be found at

Remote Therapies are indicated for those who want to support their immune systems, and are self quarantining, have been exposed to COVID-19, or show symptoms and cannot come to the office for treatment.  Phone or Zoom sessions can be scheduled at your convenience for  $85 per session.
